Roger L. Duncan, 58 of Nampa passed away on February 6, 2012 at his home from a hard fought and strong battle with cancer. Roger was born in Sterling, IL and was an avid fisherman, hunter, and camper. He spent many years as a member of the Snake River Bassmasters fishing club doing what he loved the most, with the ones he loved the most, fishing and being in the outdoors with friends and family. Roger was a kind man with a great heart that was always willing to lend a hand and help when he was needed. He was a hard worker, great fisherman, up most loving Husband, Father, Brother and grandpa, and the greatest friend that anyone could ever ask for. Roger was preceded in death by his Wife Donna Duncan (July 2010), Mother Marjorie Duncan-Yeoward (March 2009), Father Raymond F. Duncan, and Brother Jim Duncan. Roger is survived by his Daughter Keri Koch and her husband James of Nampa, and his son James Duncan of Nampa; 3 grandchildren Austin Duncan, Ashton Koch, and Jayden Koch; 3 Brothers Lawrence Duncan of Nampa, Idaho; Ray Duncan of Sterling, IL; Gary Duncan of Missouri, and numerous nieces and nephews of Idaho and Illinois Rogers’s ashes will be spread on a remote mountain top with a beautiful view overlooking Browlnee Reservoir where the ashes of his beloved wife, Donna, were sent to rest in peace. A memorial service will be held 5 PM, Saturday, February 18, 2012 at Grace Bible Church, 1415 W. Lone Star Rd. in Nampa. Flower arrangements are welcomed. - February 6, 2012

The January SRB meeting was scheduled on Jan. 2, which is the official New Years holiday due to Jan. 1 being on a Sunday. The next meeting is on November 7; it will be the SRB Banquet. It will be held at Mancino's Pizza at 126 S. Midland Blvd in Nampa; it is in the small strip mall at the corner of Midland Blvd and W. Roosevelt. The banquets need more time to eat and give out awards, so it will start at 6:30 p.m. Mancino's has great pizza and toasted sandwiches, so please attend. - October 2, 2011

Everyone,Attached is the final proposal for Lake Lowell that we have spent the last 6 weeks working on. Also attached is a letter to the manager of Deer Flat Wildlife Refuge. Please print the letter, sign it with your address included and mail to the refuge. If every recipient of this message will do that we can make an impact. If you are waiting for someone else to save the lake for you it is already lost. Only you can save the lake.
If you prefer not to mail the letter it can be brought to the meeting at Western Marine on Thursday July 21st at 7 pm. Jennifer will be there to address all who will attend and to take questions from us. Because of a lack of seating please bring your camp chair and prepare to be amazed at the lack of science used to make their proposals.
Again, we would like to fill the room (will it take 500 to do so?) The more people we put in front of her the larger the impact we will make. Please plan to attend. It is important.

At the July 11 meeting the few attending members voted to try and blast-off as early as possible at the July 23 C.J. Strike tournament and to weigh-in at 2:00 p.m. This is to reduce heat-related injuries to both fish and fishermen. - July 12, 2011
The SRB Hot Summer Nights tournament is coming up on August 13 on Owyhee Reservoir. Owyhee is fishing a little tougher this year, but there will still be some very nice fish caught at this night tournament.

The Owyhee Reservoir tournament on June 4 will be out of the Indian Creek Ramp instead on the Day Park Ramp due to another tournament being held on the Day Park Ramp. The draw for the tournament will be held at 5:00 a.m. at the ramp. Please arrive early enough to pay your entries and options before 5:00 a.m.
We have a club meeting Monday June 6 at the Refuge Visitor's Center by Lake Lowell. Someone from the Refuge will be there to talk to us about the CCP and how it will affect us.
The Deer Flat Refuge at Lake Lowell has released a new report with proposed restrictions on uses at the lake. Please review the documents in the links below and send in your comments.From the Refuge: "We welcome and encourage you to be part of this process. From now until July 29, 2011, we will be accepting public comments on the preliminary draft alternatives. Those comments will be considered as we develop the draft CCP/EIS. We thank everyone who has provided comments so far and we invite you to continue sharing your ideas with us. Your participation remains critical to the success of this planning effort."

Everyone,The Channel 6 news in Boise has carried a story about the Lake Lowell planning process for the last two evenings and I have been busy enough to miss the story until the very end. What little I can get from it sounds as if all recreation on the lake will be banned. I did not say that was definite but the story had to do with the economic impact of what the plan appears to be leaning toward. One part that I did get that scares me dramatically was the statement that so far they have received only 40 comments.
I have sent several requests that our membership inundate them with comments and apparently the request is falling on deaf ears. I know that a large majority who are receiving this message don't live near Lake Lowell, may never have fished it and may never have the opportunity to do so. I still need your help. If DFWS manages to shut this body of water to recreation they will use it as a catalyst to do so nation wide. This lake is under consideration for hosting the 2012 Northwest Division Championship and IDFG is currently putting a good deal of effort into improving the fishery.
Please make your comments now. There is nothing limiting the number of times you can comment and you are not required to identify yourself. We have over 300 members and I would expect that we should have at least that many comments on file by this time.

Sign up at Dam Sight Campground Friday evening Sept. 10 or Big Eddie ramp 4:00 to 5:30 a.m. on Saturday morning. Drivers meeting 5:30 a.m. and blast off at 6:00 a.m.

The annnual C.A.S.T. event were bass anglers take a disabled or terminally ill kid out fishing is coming up this weekend. If you can possibly make it please show up and make a kid's day! It's on Black Canyon Reservoir (above Emmett) and you need to show up around 8:00a.m. The event is usually done by 2:00 p.m. - August 2, 2010

Not much of a meeting Monday night; I will get some minutes up on the website tomorrow. All SRB club members need to remember that the Hot Summer Night tournament is the main source of operating income for our club. Everyone should make an effort to fish the tournament or at least come up and help with running it. We will need potluck food, a couple more tables, another BBQ, help with running the potluck, and on Sunday morning we will need: a check-in boat, weigh-in help and at least three release boats. - June 19, 2010

One of the Solar Bat sunglasses sample cases will be at the next SRB meeting on July 5. There are several styles of sunglasses to check out, all are $16.00 per pair with part of the money going to TIBF. The sunglasses need to be ordered in groups of 12 for shipping. The June 5 & 6 club tournament scheduled on Hells Canyon Reservoir was cancelled due to extremely high water, dangerous current and huge logs floating in the water. Premier Bass cancelled their June 5 tournament for Brownlee Reservoir at Woodhead ramp and Larry Raganit let us use his permit; thanks Larry! After we had moved the tournament to Brownlee we heard that thet were spilling water over the spillway at Brownlee Dam and the sheriff closed the boat ramps in Oxbow and Hells Canyon. Here is a link to the Brownlee Tournament ResultsBelow is a distant picture of Pine Creek running into Hells Canyon Reservoir; you can see some logs floating in the dirty water.

The public comment period for the Lake Lowell Improvement Plan has begun and is open until June 4. The Refuge's goal is to: "restore the lake to conditions supporting its beneficial uses: aesthetics, primary contact recreation, and warm water aquatic life." This may or may not affect boating and bass tournaments, so everyone needs to let the DEQ and USFWS know that we want to see boating and fishing continue on Lake Lowell.
How to Comment: Residents are encourage to send written comments by June 4 to Lauri Monnot, DEQ Boise Regional Office, 1445 N. Orchard, Boise, ID 83706; by FAX to 373-0550; or by e-mail to lauri.monnot@deq.idaho.gov.

The trash pickup at Lake Lowell was cancelled at the last minute due to high winds and nasty weather. We moved to Bill Kriner's house for the meeting and potluck. Thanks Bill and Jeanelle!!! The first SRB Club Tournament of 2010 is coming up in March, so boaters remember to bring a copy of your boat insurance that shows an expiration date and that you have at least $100,000 liability coverage on the boat to the March meeting. - February 8, 2010

The next SRB meeting was scheduled on the first Monday of January: January 4. That is the same time/date as the Fiesta Bowl and rather than have a meeting with only three or four people attending, the meeting will be moved to the second Monday in January: January 11. Please pass this information on to other club members.
